Ashwagandha (also referred to as Indian Ginseng or Withania somnifera, scientifically) is an adaptogenic herb that has been used in ancient medicine for decades. The plant originated in India, where most of its medicinal properties were discovered in Ayurvedic medicine.

It is just recently that the popularity of this herb has shot up. The supplement industry has caught on to the benefits of this amazing herb and for very good reason.

Anti-Inflammatory – this herb has been found to be incredibly effective in dealing with a number of inflammatory diseases. It’s shown to decrease inflammation and also reduce the feeling of pain. The anti-inflammatory properties come from the alkaloids and saponins found within the herb.

Fights cortisol
– Due to its stress fighting abilities, Ashwagandha is also known to significantly reduce cortisol levels (some studies suggest up to 30%). As we all know, cortisol, while a necessary hormone, in large amounts, can cause significant health issues, including weight gain, heart disease and high blood sugar.

Can increase testosterone and infertility – A number of studies have shown that supplementing with Ashwagandha increased the subject’s sperm count, motility and testosterone levels. Do we really need a better excuse than this? Once again, great for PCT and even on cycle support.
