Triacetyluridine (TAU) is a nootropic supplement. Nootropics – also called “smart drugs” – are generally taken for perceived mental benefits such as improvements in memory, mood, focus, or motivation.
Once ingested, triacetyluridine is converted to uridine that is seven times more bioavailable. Uridine is a precursor in the endogenous biosynthesis of CDP-choline and phosphatidylcholine that can also cross the blood-brain barrier. Uridine is also a neurotransmitter, as a ligand of the P2Y2 purinergic receptors, and may potentiate NGF/TrkA signalling in neuronal development and regeneration.
As a dietary supplement, TAU is often stacked with a form of choline and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, a component of fish oil) to maximise nootropic effects.
As a dietary supplement, take four capsules daily. Take with meals. Do not exceed eight capsules in any 24 hour period.
